Fernando Madeira to Speak at World Economic Forum 2008

Terra CEO Highlights Trends in Social Networking

Fernando Madeira, CEO of Terra Latin America, will be a panelist at the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, January 22-27. This year’s event theme is “The Power of Collaborative Innovation.”

With experience in leading an Internet operation with more than 7 million users of Community services, in 18 countries, including the United States and Latin America, Madeira will speak about social networks as a tool to a brand’s construction used to create user generated content and form online relationships.

Madeira was invited by the WEF to participate in topic, “Add a Friend: Accept or Decline” on January 23. Fellow panelists include George F. Colony, CEO and Chairman of the Board of the Forrester Research Council, USA; Loïc Le Meur, founder and CEO of Seesmic, a North American Internet video company; and researcher Danah Boyd. The panel session will be mediated by Donald Tapscott, CEO of the Canadian New Paradigm Learning Corporation.

“Internet user participation has been in existence since the web’s inception. However, it has not been until recently that users have participated in such systematic and revolutionary ways constructing and creating content construction, with the adaptation of broadband and mobile technology,” states Madeira.

Fernando Madeira, 37, was elected last year as one of the six Brazilian Young Global Leaders by the WEF. As a Young Global Leader, Madeira participated at the World Economic Forum on Latin America in Santiago, Chile and the Third Annual Summit of the Forum of Young Global Leaders in Dalian, China in 2007.
