Cuba prepares for the Gold Cup in Chile
The Cuban National Team, integrated by 20 players, traveled to Santiago, Chile to play four matches with clubs of the south of that South American country as a part of its preparation for the Gold Cup 2007.
The games against the Chilean national team are set for May 9 and May 15 in Osorno and Temuco. Cuba will also play club teams from those cities on May 11 and May 13.
In the squad are goalkeepers Odelín Molina and Danny Quintero, defenders Yenier Márquez, Silvio Pedro, Yosvani Horseman, Jorge Luis Clavelo, Gisbel Morales, and Reysander Fernandez.
The coach, Raul González Triana, selected midfielders Jaine and Joel Colomé (CHA), Pedro Faife, Osvaldo Alonso, Enrique Villaurrutia, Lazaro Alfonso, Alain Cervantes, and Ariel Martinez.
The four forwards chosen are Lester Moré, Reinier Alcántara, Adonis Ramos, and Leonel Duarte.
While their rivals have already played several friendlies, Cuba has only faced Venezuela and was defeated 3-1. Cuba is in Group C of the CONCACAF Gold Cup™ alongside Honduras, Mexico and Panama.
