Cuba lose two friendlies against Chile
Cuba traveled to Chile and lost a pair of friendlies to the hosts on 9 and 16 May in Osorno and Temuco, respectively.
Goals by Luis Flores, Roberto Gutiérrez and José Rojas led Chile to a 3:0 victory against Cuba in the first encounter held Estadio Rubén Marcos in Osorno last week.
In the second match on Wednesday evening, Gutiérrez and Daniel Gonzalez scored to lead Chile to a 2:0 triumph over Cuba at the Estadio Germán Bécquer in Temuco.
Prior to the second friendly against the hosts, the cubanos were coming off a 1:1 tie and a 2:1 win over local selection clubs from Osorno and Temuco, respectively.
Cuba continues their preparation to the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup™, when they head to Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago to compete in a four-team tournament (Digicel Shield) later this month.
Cuba, Haiti and the Mexico’s Pan American Team will join the hosts, Trinidad & Tobago at the event, which begins on 28 May.
The cubanos will face the Mexican squad in the first encounter on 28 May, with the soca warriors taking on the Haitians in the second match.
The two winners will meet in the quadrangular final on 30 May, while the two losing teams will face off in the third-place game earlier in the day.
