Mexico is looking for a ticket to the final when they face Guadeloupe

On one side there is small archipelago called Guadeloupe, which is a small French territory in the Caribbean that isn’t even a member of FIFA. In the other corner is Mexico, one of the giants of the CONCACAF.

On one side there is small archipelago called Guadeloupe, which is a small French territory in the Caribbean that isn’t even a member of FIFA. In the other corner is Mexico, one of the giants of the CONCACAF.

They will face off on Thursday in Chicago for a ticket to the final of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

The Mexicans poses a team with a lot of experience and individual talent, while Guadeloupe is the feel good story of the tournament in their first participation in the tournament.

“There are no easy rivals, the differences betweens the teams have become smaller and any and every opponent deserves respect, we have to have a good strategy in order to win”, stated Mexican striker Omar Bravo.

Mexico has five players that play their club soccer in Europe, four of which were champions with their respective clubs: Carlos Salcido with PSV Eindhoven of Holland, Ricardo Osorio and Pável Pardo Stuttgart of Germany, and Nery Castillo with Greek side Olympiakos.

Their other European based player is Rafael Marquez who was runner up in Spain with FC Barcelona. The defender joined the rest of the squad on Tuesday and his appearance in the semifinal is in doubt.

Guadeloupe has played well in their games while exhibiting a great defense and taking advantage of their strikers speed in order to score on counter attacks.

Guadeloupe is content with making this far and is playing without any pressure, this makes them even more dangerous.

“We have no pressure, but we play every game to win. Mexico is one of the big teams, and the big ones don’t die they got bigger. They have had difficulties to win, but they have gotten better and now right before a final they will be even harder to beat, but we are going to try. We have the talent and we know it”, stated the 41 year old player Jocelyn Angloma.

The game is set to begin at 9 p.m. ct in Chicago’s Soldier Field.
