¿Boston tiene chance de clasificar si está sano?

El cambio que envolvió a Alex González y a Yunel Escobar, es una excelente posibilidad para ambos campocortos latinos. González tiene la oportunidad de jugar con un equipo que tiene posibilidades reales de estar en postemporada y que le podría dar el chance de sumar otro anillo al obtenido por él, en el 2003 con los Marlins de la Florida.

Por su parte el cubano salió de unos Bravos que no encajaban con él y con los que sus problemas rayaban en lo personal, sobre todo con el jugador insignia del equipo, Chipper Jones. Escobar llegó a un equipo relajado y los resultados fueron magníficos en la primera semana, Yunel estalló con el bate en Toronto, este podría ser un punto de inflexión en su joven carrera.

Negocios son negocios

González llega a los Bravos en el mejor momento al bate de su carrera, las libertades y filosofía “free swinger” de los Jays, le vino como anillo al dedo al aragüeño, que logró llegar a 17 vuelacercas antes de la mitad de la temporada. Con los Bravos todo es diferente, Alex nos habla de su sentir sobre el cambio “Me siento muy bien, tengo que hacer lo mismo, aportar lo que pueda para estar en los playoffs, el año pasado estuve en ellos, pero no pudimos llegar a la serie mundial, esa es la meta con los Bravos” comentó González.

Los cambios, mucha veces, pueden ser traumáticos para algunos jugadores pero González ya ha vestido las camisetas de Florida, Boston, Cincinnati y Toronto, antes de llegar a Atlanta “Es parte del trabajo de uno, no son cosas personales, no se sabe lo que puede pasar el día de mañana, de mi parte pongo, lo que tengo que poner, juego la pelota fuerte y tratando de ser consistente”

Una combinación aragüeña

La combinación que forma con Martín Prado, alrededor del segundo cojín, tiene varias características que la hacen especial, ambos son venezolanos, más específicamente aragüeños y están por encima del promedio en sus respectivas posiciones al guante. Pero el punto más importante es el enorme aporte ofensivo que podrían producir entre ambos, ya llegan a la treintena de jonrones combinados “es la primera vez que juego con Prado, pero aun así hemos jugado bastante bien, nos hemos entendido muy fácil”

No sólo Prado está en el equipo, Omar Infante y hasta Eduardo Pérez están en el equipo, lo que hace más fácil adaptarse con tantos venezolanos “Si me siento contento, aquí me recibieron muy bien, recuerda que he jugado en su contra y los conozco, ahora más que voy a estar con ellos todo el tiempo, creo que todo va a ir bien”

Bobby Cox se va

Toda la franquicia está trabajando para que el retiro del manager Bobby Cox sea triunfal en camino a su merecido lugar en el Salón de la Fama, González también se siente parte de ellos aunque acaba de llegar al equipo “Yo soy parte del equipo, claro que quiero darle el regalo a Bobby Cox de estar en la postemporada, él es uno de los más grandes managers de la historia, para mí es un honor estar bajo su mando y quiero colaborar para que se retire muy en alto”

La postemporada está a dos meses de distancia y los Bravos se ven sólidos en una división con muchos problemas, aunque es posible un despertar de los muy lesionados Phillies y los Mets están en la búsqueda de los lanzadores que puedan ponerlos en la pelea y hasta los Marlins ha tenido un repentino repunte, veremos una buena parte final de temporada es el este de la nacional que nos tiene habituados a ello, con Alex González como protagonista, casi con toda seguridad.
