Fue correcta la decisión en el caso Galarraga

Armando Galarraga no pudo lograr lanzar "legalmente" un partido perfecto, eso fue decretado en primera instancia por el juez Jim Joyce y ratificado en comentario posterior por el propio Zar del béisbol, Bud Selig. Eso es una verdad, pero en los corazones latinos, esta realidad es completamente contraria, basta con escuchar a montones de cubanos, dominicanos, boricuas y nicaragüenses en todas partes de Miami decir "ese muchacho es especial, lo robaron"

Armando Galarraga no pudo lograr lanzar "legalmente" un partido perfecto, eso fue decretado en primera instancia por el juez Jim Joyce y ratificado en comentario posterior por el propio Zar del béisbol, Bud Selig. Eso es una verdad, pero en los corazones latinos, esta realidad es completamente contraria, basta con escuchar a montones de cubanos, dominicanos, boricuas y nicaragüenses en todas partes de Miami decir "ese muchacho es especial, lo robaron"

Es que lo sucedido el 2 de junio pasó fronteras, no sólo los venezolanos perdimos la oportunidad que uno de los nuestros fuese el segundo latino en la historia en lograr la hazaña, sino que todos en el béisbol asestaron el golpe. Uno de ellos fue el mismísimo Dennis Martínez, único latino con un juego perfecto "a mí me hubiese encantado, como pitcher que el muchacho lo hubiese logrado" fue la primera expresión de uno de tres lanzadores que ha ganado 100 partidos en cada liga.

Lo primero que nos preguntamos fue si el máximo ganador latino en las mayores habría visto el partido en vivo "Yo tuve la oportunidad de ver lo último del partido, al salir de la práctica del equipo AA de los Cardenales, de los cuales soy coach de lanzadores y canté ese out a todo grito y no pude creer la apreciación del umpire y eso me disgustó mucho, es que paso en el último out"

Martínez prefiere comentar la reacción y buen comportamiento de los dos protagonistas de la noche, que sobre el partido en sí "Las reacciones de ambos son increíbles, ambos me impresionaron, Galarraga nos dio un ejemplo a todos los peloteros y a todos los latinos, espero que Venezuela se sienta bien orgullosa de ese "chamaco", porque la forma que respondió me hizo sentir orgulloso"

Bienvenido al club de los perfectos

Dennis considera que Galarraga es parte del grupo, pero además agrega varios adjetivo para dejar claro lo que siente sobre Armando y su comportamiento en una situación tan compleja "Yo le doy la bienvenida en el club de los juegos perfectos, porque para todos los que estamos allí, debe ser un orgullo que este tipo de personas esté con nosotros"

No es normal que un umpire se disculpe

A pesar de que todos podríamos pensar que la situación ameritaba una disculpa y que ello podría ser poco, Martínez nos deja claro que eso no es lo normal "eso creo que lo engrandeció, ante el error, se disculpó, tuvo esa hombría de reconocer el error. La forma como se desarrolló todo, creo que es lo bueno, en medio de la tragedia que esto significa para Galarraga, porque no es lo mismo tirarlo que no"

El 28 de Julio de 1991 Dennis Martínez fue perfecto, lo lograba por primera vez en la historia para un latino y nos comenta que sintió la misma presión en los instantes finales de la proeza del cumanés "Son momentos en los que recordamos lo que hicimos en el pasado y claro que me causó gran emoción. Recuerda que esto también sirve para que otros recuerden la historia de los que hemos logrado algo"

El perfecto cambió mi vida en la pelota

Los grandes momentos pueden hacer que todo cambie y el nicaragüense nos dice que su vida cono jugador cambió al lanzar el perfecto "es algo que se mantiene allí, que es inamovible, creo que mi historia está basada en ese partido y para mi vida como pelotero, sobre todo después del retiro"

Para cerrar Martínez le augura muchos éxitos a Galarraga gracias a su gallardía "Creo que van a venir buenas cosas a Galarraga, porque todo lo que hizo tiene su recompensa, los umpires tienen que tomar en cuenta la forma tan caballerosa en que el "Chamaco" tomó"
