El jardinero, que no juega desde que chocó con un muro mientras realizaba una atrapada el 4 de septiembre, fue revisado el martes por segundo día consecutivo por el médico Robert Watkins en California. Las pruebas revelaron una fractura que dos radiografías previas y una prueba de resonancia magnética no habían encontrado.

El gerente general de los Rangers, Jon Daniels, dijo que a Hamilton le pusieron una inyección desinflamatoria y otra para el dolor.

Usualmente se necesitan dos o tres días para saber si el tratamiento tiene el efecto deseado. Hamilton podría volver a jugar cuando se sienta cómodo.

Los Rangers son líderes del Oeste de la Liga Americana e intentan clasificarse a los playoffs por primera vez desde 1999.
