SYNOPSIS:
Two friends and old army buddies join forces and pool
their talents as showmen to save their old commander,
who now owns a broken-down winter resort in
Vermont, from economic ruin.
Review: Fred Astaire turned down a chance
to participate in the film after reading the script
and becoming dissatisfied with his character. Nevertheless,
White Christmas had the honor of being the first
film projected on a wide screen. The impression
that the wide screen made on audiences and critics
resulted in widespread acclaim for the film for
its spectacular presentation of the musical numbers,
and the public filed in to see it en masse.
