How to Decorate

For all the reasons previously mentioned, a fireplace deserves to be decorated nicely for the holidays. Garlands, candles, fruits and nuts, poinsettias, tiny gift boxes, ribbons and centerpieces all add splendor and beauty.

The first thing you need to decide is the theme, something that fits your family or home.

For the kids
If you have children at home, you may opt for a festive theme for the fireplace. Colorful stockings, eye-catching garlands and lights may be a good solution for kids to get into the holiday spirit. Stockings are very important for Santa to put his gifts in. You can get them in Christmas colors -- green and red are the most commonly used. Hang stockings for each member of the household and if possible include their names on them. Remember you need big stockings so Santa can leave more presents inside of them.
