Decorating tips
Planning a holiday meal and setting the table can be a fun project for all involved. It can be a very gratifying experience when guests show their appreciation for the well-planned meal.
The Buffet Table
For a large dinner party, a buffet might be an interesting option. In order to host a buffet, you will need a buffet table. If you don't have one, place a panel of wood over a sawhorse and cover it with a nice tablecloth. You can cover the buffet table with a vibrant red upholstery fabric. Red candles can be placed on the tabele as well.
Try to place the buffet away from the wall. That way if there are too many guests, they can move twice as fast if they can serve themselves from both sides of the table. Another option is to set aside a separate table for plates, flatware and napkins. A makeshift bar for beverages is also a good idea.
Use plates that aren't too heavy or delicate because guests will be moving from one side of the room to the other with china in hand. Try to think about the glasses you're going to use, wide-bottomed glasses are better because they are less likely to tip over.
