Dressy or casual
While most people would probably lean toward "casual" when given the choice, it's not necessarily a clear-cut call these days, said Kathy Steed.

"People are able to go to work a lot more casual now," she noted. "So when they go out, they just might say, 'Let's really do it!'" and haul out the monkey suit and sequined dress.

Then again, "high heels and sparkles might not be the most desired," said Steed, "so just do whatever suits you."

Are you starting to see a pattern here? The bottom line is: Stay within your comfort zone and throw a party that fits your personal style.
