MUST HAVES
Mistletoe
The mistletoe or Phoradendron Leucarpum, as it is scientifically
known, is a plant normally found in tropical and subtropical regions
of the planet. There are 700 to1400 types of mistletoe divided among
different families.
Christmas mistletoe, the most known, belongs to a group of vascular
plants, having parasitic flowers that grow on tree trunks and shrubs.
It grows in bundles on tree trunks from where it gets all the nourishment
it needs.
You can buy it already cut, in a Christmas market, as part of small
tufts with other evergreens, and almost always with berries.
Mistletoe legends are infinite; one from France, says that it was
originally a tree, but after it was used to make the cross where
Christ was crucified and died, God condemned it to be without soil
to bloom and to grow its roots on other trees. Another one says
that a kiss under the mistletoe will grant us love eternal and all
the good luck we need to start the New Year.
