Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875)
Danish author, born in Odense. While displaying versatility in other styles of writing, he was ultimately recognized for his children's stories. The International Children's Book Day held on April 2, commemorates the date of his birth. He remains one of the most well-known, translated and influential figures of world literature.
