Lips:
For
fuller lips, follow the edge of the lip
with a light lip liner. This highlights
and accentuates at the same time. Trace
the shape or your lips just outside their
natural contour using a natural rosy brown.
Next, fill in with a glossy beige shade.
Lip-gloss adds more volume and life. Very
accentuated lines usually made with dark
browns, that contrast with your lipstick
are out. You'll be better off with a subtle
lip liner. A peach-colored pearl gloss gives
a fresh and youthful look; choose a creamy
and glossy texture instead of a mute one.
Glossy lips are fuller lips. If you have
thin lips, define them over their natural
contour to give the illusion of fuller lips,
and avoid dark colors because they make
your lips look even thinner. Lip liner is
better than regular lipstick for a more
precise outline. Fuller lips can handle
darker tones. Use a burgundy shade and fill
in with a same color in cream. Or you can
use more dramatic colors like dark red or
purple. When you outline your lips with
dark colors like that, the tip of your pencil
must be very sharp, plus, you have to make
a perfect line because mistakes will be
more noticeable in this color. If you go
with a stronger color like cherry pink,
you can highlight your teeth and make them
look whiter.
Skin Care:
Healthy
skin starts with clean skin. But, should
you use soap or cleansing lotion? Some women
are afraid of washing their face with soap.
But if you follow up with a nice moisturizer,
there is no reason not to use it. In fact,
soap is one of the most efficient ways to
get rid of bacteria and dirt as long as
you use soap with neutral PH to keep the
natural balance of your skin. If your face
is too dry, then it may be better to use
cleansing lotions and creams that hydrate
while they cleanse your skin. A good night's
sleep is key for healthy skin. Dermatologists
can determine which side of our face we
sleep on by looking for fine lines. This
can be avoided sleeping on a non-synthetic
pillow with a satin cover and, of course,
using a moisturizing and nourishing cream
for your type of skin.
Foundation:
Use foundation to even out the
tone of your skin, neck and, whenever needed,
your cleavage. Compact foundation is ideal
if you have big pores because it fills them
in and creates a smoother look. Yellow foundation
is perfect for sallow complexions or to
revitalize darker complexions like those
of some Latin women. Also, liquid foundation
can be applied much quicker than compact
foundation, and it looks more natural, but
it covers less. When buying makeup at a
store, go outside on the street and check
how it looks under daylight and also if
the tone go well with your complexion.
Make-up
Tricks:
Facial
corrections are as important as color. A
simple dark line on the cheek makes for
higher cheekbones. As weird as it may sound,
the shape of the nose can also look different
with some makeup. Dark tones on each side
of the nose will make it look thinner, and
a light straight line down the middle gives
the optical illusion of a straight nose.
A line along the jaw line makes your cheekbones
look higher. And a few highlights on your
forehead help relax frown lines and give
your face a fresher look. Another trick
is to use a dark tone to shorten the chin.
Always remember to blend well with the puff,
this will soften fine lines and give a supple
finish. In short, highlights in lighter
tones accentuate and give volume, while
darker shades are used for hiding and giving
depth.
Cheek
Bones:
A
touch of blush on the cheeks gives you a
more healthy appearance and helps define
your cheekbones. If you want a longer face,
simply move the brush from the side of your
mouth to right above the ears. If you're
using too many colors, a natural brown,
slightly darker than your skin, would be
a wise choice. And for sheer luminosity
and a festive look use a silver shade. A
little shine highlights and stands out in
the dark, but apply only a little bit on
the upper part of the cheekbones.

Eyebrows:
If
the eyes are the mirrors of the soul, the
eyebrows are their frames. Shape them up
by plucking underneath them with tweezers,
and following their natural pattern. Rub
an ice cube on your eyelid before plucking;
it will make it less painful.
Accentuate
them with a pencil and shade of the same
color for a more intense look; follow the
direction in which the hair grows. Very
dark eyebrows should be lightened up one
shade lighter from their natural color to
avoid the "tough" look. Blonde eyebrows
are hard to notice, so they have to be accentuated
a little for a more intense look. The shade
you use should be as close as possible to
the natural color of your eyebrows.
Eye Shadow:
Look
for a combination that best complements
the tone of your skin and the color of your
eyes, instead of going for trendy colors.
Brunettes are best with brown, copper and
burgundy eye shadow, although the look for
these holidays is all about gloss and luminosity.
Silvery-white eye shadow brings on a cosmic-girl
flare very fitting for the end of the millennium,
and to accentuate it, a dark pearl gray
to add some depth. Make sure the eye shadow
you choose complements the color of your
hair and skin, not the color of your eyes.
You may also want to try a brownish violet
to give the impression of longer eyes. For
a sweeter look, use dark pink eye shadow.
This is a natural color that makes for lovey-dovey
eyes, and looks very good on blondes. Also,
with a darker shade of pinkish brown of
the same color line you can bring out the
eyes to create more depth. Start from the
corner of the eye and move outwards to make
your eyes look longer. Next, follow the
arch of the eye inwards, blending until
it is even. Another way of enhancing your
"night-out" look is using shiny white eye
shadow. But not if you have droopy or puffy
eyes, because it will make them more noticeable.
Eyeliner and Mascara:
You'll
have to be a pro to try out a kohl line.
The finer the eyeliner, the easier it will
be to make that perfect line. If your have
round lower eyelids, don't ever draw a dark
line out from the lower lid because it will
make them look more round and droopy. Make
a line just where the eyelashes meet the
lower eyelid using a very fine liner. This
will define the eye without the harshness
of a dark liner and it won't smear as much.
You can highlight the eyes with a dark brown
line on the upper eyelids. Be careful not
to apply shades that are too dark. If you
don't have enough practice, it's not a bad
idea to place a paper tissue underneath
your eyes. This way you won't mess up the
rest of your makeup if some eye shadow comes
loose. Before applying mascara, define your
eyelashes with a curler. Apply mascara on
both sides of eyelashes, under and over.
If you think you need more, apply a second
layer to make them stand up, start at the
roots and move outwards to the ends to make
them as long as you can.
How To Avoid Rings Under Your Eyes:
Apply
a concealer one shade lighter than your
skin to hide fatigue circles and project
a "rested" look. While you're at it, cover
up any capillaries and pimples that may
give your skin an unhealthy appearance.
Some women are more prone to getting circles
under their eyes than others. This may be
caused by a lack of sleep, bad circulation
or even constipation. These problems make
your blood take on a bluish tone. Also,
pigments and toxins tend to accumulate in
the delicate skin around the eyes.
Translucent Make-up Powder:
Translucent
make-up powder will give you a matte touch.
These loose makeup powders neutralize shiny
spots, especially in the tip of the nose,
forehead, and chin. Blend well and thoroughly
to avoid a cardboard-like look. It's better
not to apply too much powder under the eyes
because it may accentuate fine lines. This
make-up powder penetrates deeper with the
puff than with a brush. Your skin will not
have any shiny spots for a longer time,
but you may also saturate your makeup.
