The
best designers agree on some basic articles
to wear on this New Year's Eve celebrations.
Simplicity is at the heart of this year's
fashion, even evening wear.
1. What to Wear:
A glossy black one-shouldered satin dress.
Don't go out like a Christmas tree, wear
only a few accessories. If you are unsure
about "putting on" or "taking off," always
take off. Simple, minimal, but grand.
2. What's a good party combination
for a twenty-something these holidays? How
about for a forty-something? Find a dress
that suits your personality, more so than
your age. A paillete black skirt (squared
sequin) and a sleeveless mohair top is perfect
for both ages.
3. What other colors besides black
can we wear for a night out? Any color,
but preferably in a deep tone. We recommend
black because it's a color that looks good
on everybody, is comfortable, safe and flexible.
Other alternatives are garnets, blues and
greens in subtle hues.
4. What accessories go well with
a nightdress? The minimum. Only a small
item to complement your outfit: a ring,
a bracelet, a pair of earrings...pick
few but good.
Basic items for a night out:
-Long satin dresses with tube tops. -Tight
sequin dresses with skirts below the knee.
-Black lamé dresses and tops with deep cleavage
and spaghetti straps
-Long and wide crêpe skirts (that go with
any top)
-Skirts, dresses, tops, etc. with a gem-like shine
-Velvet or square sequined tops
-Mules or embroidered flats
-Small velvet or rhinestone purses -Rhinestone
chokers -Long earrings -Silk shawl
Terra suggests:
Long crêpe skirt + black tube top with
a gem-like shine + high-heeled embroidered
mules + silk shawl.
