CHRISTMAS CARDS
The tradition of sending Christmas cards to the people we care about was invented in England in 1843 by Sir Henry Cole, who asked an artist friend to paint a few Christmas motifs, which he reproduced with a printing press. |
|
On each card he expressed his best wishes and congratulations for the holidays, and a few days before Christmas Eve, he sent them out to his best friends. The idea was very well received and to this day, many families around the world have continued the tradition.
