  GSTAAD (SWITZERLAND)

Switzerland offers fantastic opportunities to enjoy a wonderful white Christmas, while, at the same time, the unique possibility of ringing out the old and celebrating the new millennium in style. Gstaad stands out as one of the best resorts in Switzerland.

An Alpine village situated in a valley east of Lake Leman, it lies about two hours from Geneva. Although well-known as a resort frequented by expert skiers, Gstaad also offers intermediate trails, even some for beginners.

Certainly, Santa will not soon forget this spot, an excellent and traditional place to close the year, including an entertaining New Year's Eve party at Club 95, a pub in the Victoria Hotel. At the Palace Hotel, you can try a ski-drink, dance, listen to music and even try your luck and place a few wagers in the Casino on the last night of the millennium.

GETTING THERE
The International Airport in Zurich is the closest and largest; from there, it's a three- to four-hour trip by train to Gstaad. The most convenient place for car rentals is also Zurich.
If arriving from Geneva, renting a car is recommended as there are no adequate train connections here.
