THE TRAIL OF THE INCAS - THE ROAD TO MACHU PICCHU (PERU)

Celebrating the dawn of the New Millennium the same way the ancient Incas greeted the dawning of the Sun god can be a magical experience. If Machu Picchu is impressive at any other time, then it is all the more so during this unforgettable night on which an Inca ceremony will be welcoming the new millenium.

THE SACRED CITY
Machu Picchu, the sacred city of the Incas, or "the lost city," is a mystical place, a monument to the gods. The acute sense of spirituality that inhabits this place transports visitors to a universe where everything appears unimaginable and impossible.
We're talking about one of the most popular archeological finds in the world and one of the most visited in Peru.
The Citadel of Machu Picchu, situated in Quechua or Vieja Montaña, is known throughout the world for its fascinating ruins, from which you can see the Urubamba river. So far, no one has managed to unravel the strange mystery which surrounds these magical places, and no one has been able to discover how the Incas were able to transport those enormous blocks of stone up the mountain sometime back in the 15th century.
Cuzco, located in the Urubamba valley, represents the lowest part of the sacred valley of the Incas, located in an area with direct access to the jungle.

VISITING THE SACRED CITY OF MACHU PICCHU

Machu Picchu is divided into four sectors:
The northwest, probably the most religious zone, called the Sacred Plaza;
The Temple of the Three Windows; the Mansion; and lastly, Intihuatana, a block of stone that served as a ceremonial altar and large solar observatory which enabled the Incas to recognize the seasons of the year and measure time based on the shadows cast by the sun on stone.
The Residences are located in the northwest of the complex. The most luxurious are in "the Clock Tower."
Smaller buildings are located to the southeast. The streets there are narrow and there are numerous terraces constructed for agricultural purposes.
In the cemetery, located in the lower terrace zone, investigators have discovered 135 skeletons.
We recommend that any visit to this indescribable place be planned to last at least a full day, since there are so many attractions to see and so many places to visit.
