Ashton Kutcher
interview with “Access Hollywood’s” Pat O’Brien, television and film star Ashton Kutcher says that he doesn’t “have any plans” for marriage with his girlfriend of nine months, film star Demi Moore. The heartthrob also comments on why he chose to walk away from his popular MTV show, “Punk’d.” Regarding his first dramatic role in “The Butterfly Effect,” Kutcher talks about how he prepared for the part and admits that it is “frightening” to know that his performance will be “judged.” Portions of the interview will air on “Access Hollywood,” Monday, January 12, 2004 (check local listings for time and station). Kutcher, whose romance with film-star Demi Moore is frequently the subject of media speculation, says that marriage is not on the horizon any time soon. “I don't have any plans for it,” he says. “I can check the date book, but last I looked, there wasn't anything in there like that.” Regarding his popular MTV show, “Punk’d,” Kutcher says that while it was fun, he was itching to take on new projects. “We’re done,” he says. “It was time to move on, it was time to do something different. I get bored easily man, I’ve got to change it.” On his first dramatic role in “The Butterfly Effect,” Kutcher admits that he is experiencing his own case of the butterflies thinking about how his performance will be received. “I think it might be a little frightening to know that you are going to be judged, and that it's that intense,” he says. “You know, somebody is going to make a judgment about you as to whether or not you can do this. I think it's going to be…scary to see how people react.” In preparing for the dark role, the actor spared no limits. “I got a wheelchair at my house for the scenes that I was in a wheelchair and practiced moving around,” he says. “I actually took the wheelchair and disguised myself somewhat and rolled through a shopping mall in my wheelchair, just to see how people look at somebody in a wheelchair.” When O’Brien asked the star if the constant media attention he receives ever bothered him, Kutcher says that it’s all part of the job. “It kind of comes with the territory doesn't it?” he replies. “If I'm sitting in Iowa, I flip through magazines and see Tom Cruise, I'm like ‘I want to be an actor like Tom Cruise,’ I see Brad Pitt, I'm like ‘I want to be like this guy.’ If I'm not a moron, I realize that these guys are followed and they get their picture taken all the time so it kind of comes with the deal. You know, my life's pretty freakin’ great. I'm not going to complain about it you know, a little camera here and there.”
