Because Australia doesn't have natural rapids, the man made river was finally built in March of 1999 with a circuit of artificial rapids and cost approximately $6.5 million.
In these facilities the water runs to a speed of 14 cubic meters per second, measuring 300 meters long.
After the Games are finished the inhabitants and visitors of Sydney will be able to enjoy the security of these rapids.
