HAVE U EVER NOTICED THAT WHEN YOU TELL FOLK WHAT YOU REALLY FEEL OR THINK ABOUT A GIVEN SITUATION THEY DON'T BELIEVE YOU. HAVE U EVER NOTICED THAT WHEN YOU TELL SOMEONE A LIE THEY ACCEPT THAT SO MUCH EASIER THAN THE TRUTH.
What is it about sharing the truth about ourselves that people do not accept. If i say I'm not looking for a relationship why is that people say... oh you just haven't met the right person or they say i can change your mind... In the words of DR. MAYA ANGELOU... when people tell you who they are or what they are about LISTEN!
Isn't it funny how when you tell people who or what ur about they later say you never said that you told me you wanted to settle down... perhaps but what they chose not to hear was... some day i'm looking forward to settling down, now is not the time! i guess it has to be that subscriptin of SELECTIVE HEARING AND MEMORY DAILY!
As an OUT BLACK GAY MALE, i find it difficult to connect with my people for this very reason. I used to take it personally when i moved back to Miami 15 years ago, now i understand what that is about... INSECURITY, FEAR AND NO SELF LOVE.
Why can't we talk to each other. We are always complaining that no one ever does anything for our people well WHAT HAVE U DONE FOR YOUR PEOPLE LATELY.
I used to feel self conscious because I didn't fit in with many of the people i met. Many thought i was stuck up... LOL, which i now understand as PROJECTION.
THE ATTITUDE THE SHADE IT'S ALL ABOUT INSECURITIES.
The only way to break this ever growing trend is throught conversation. Real conversations where yes tears may be shed and feelings may get hurt but THE TRUTH HURTS SOMETIMES.
ONLY WHEN WE BEGIN TO TALK TO ONE ANOTHER WILL WE BEGIN TO HEAL THE WOUNDS THAT CONTINUE TO DEVASTATE OUR COMMUNITIES.
FIRST STEP: LETS BEGIN BY LOOKING ONE ANOTHER IN THE EYES AS WE'RE WALKING THE STREETS AND ACKNOWLEDGE WE'RE SHARING THE SAME SPACE.
SECOND STEP: TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR OWN ACTIONS IN ANY GIVEN SITUATION... PEOPLE CAN ONLY DO WHAT U GIVE THEM THE POWER TO DO TO YOU AND WITH YOU.
THIRD STEP: love is not a 4 letter word when used properly.
FOURTH STEP: LOVE BEGINGS WITH SELF FULL DISCLOSURE WITH URSELF AND LOVING SELF OPENS THE DOORS TO THE UNIVERSE.
FIFTH: WELL GUESS U'LL HAVE TO RESPOND AND TUNE IN
